महावाक्य तत्त्वादिकें पंचिकर्णें। खुणे पाविजे संतसंगे विवर्णे। द्वितीयेसी संकेत जो दाविजेतो। तया सांडुनी चंद्रमा भाविजेतो॥

‘प्रज्ञानं ब्रह्म’, ‘अहं ब्रह्मास्मि’, ‘तत्त्वमसि’, ‘अयमात्मा ब्रह्म’ ही वेदांतील महावाक्ये यांचा अर्थ, सृष्टिरचनेची मूळतत्त्वे व पंचमहाभूतांपासून होणारी विश्वरचना या गोष्टींचे विवेचन संतांच्या तोंडून ऐकावे. मग ते त्या परब्रह्माची खूण दाखवून देतात. ज्याप्रमाणे द्वितीयेचा चंद्र दाखविण्यासाठी एखाद्या झाडाच्या फांदीच्या खुणेने दाखवितात व चंद्र दिसला की खूण बाजूला सारतात, त्याप्रमाणे संत हे परब्रह्माची खूण दाखवतात.

The great Vedantic sayings such as Prajnanam Brahma, Aham Brahmasmi, Tattvamasi and Ayamatma Brahma explain the root principles of creation and how the universe arises from the five elements; one should hear their meaning from saints. They then point out the mark of the Supreme Brahman, just as someone points to the crescent moon by aligning it with a tree branch, and once the moon is seen, the pointer is set aside. In the same way, saints only indicate the mark of Brahman.
