चार वेद, न्यायदर्शन, मीमांसा, तर्कशास्त्र, अनेक स्मृति-पुराणे, वेदांत ग्रंथ इ. सर्व त्या परमात्म्याचे वर्णन करतात, परंतु शेवटी ‘नेति नेति’ असे म्हणतात. स्वतः शेषनाग सहस्रावधी मुखे असूनही त्या परमात्म्याचे वर्णन करता येत नसल्यामुळे मौन झाला आहे. तेव्हा ज्ञानाचा अहंकार सोडून ती वस्तू पाहण्याचा प्रयत्न कर.

The four Vedas, logic, Mimamsa, the science of debate, the many Smritis and Puranas, and the Vedantic texts all attempt to describe the Supreme, yet in the end they can only say neti neti, not this, not this. Even the thousand-hooded serpent Shesha has fallen silent, unable to describe that Being despite his countless mouths. So set aside the pride of learning and strive instead to directly perceive that reality.
