नाना वस्त्रें नाना भूषणें । येणें शरीर श्रृंघारणें ।
विवेकें विचारें राजकरणें । अंतर श्रृंघारिजे ॥ १॥
With various garments and ornaments the body is adorned, but it is discernment and prudent, thoughtful conduct in worldly affairs that truly adorns the inner self.

शरीर सुंदर सतेज । वस्त्रें भूषणें केले सज्ज ।
अंतरीं नस्तां च्यातुर्यबीज । कदापि शोभा न पवे ॥ २ ॥
Even if the body is beautiful and radiant, dressed and adorned to perfection, without the seed of true cleverness within, it can never attain real splendor.

तुंड हेंकाड कठोर वचनी । अखंड तोले साभिमानी ।
न्याय नीति अंतःकर्णीं । घेणार नाहीं ॥ ३ ॥
A stubborn, harsh-tongued person, perpetually puffed up with pride, never truly takes justice and morality into his heart.

तर्ह्हे सीघ्रकोपी सदा । कदापि न धरी मर्यादा ।
राजकारण संवादा । मिळोंचि नेणें ॥ ४ ॥
A person who is always quick to anger never maintains proper limits, and does not know how to reconcile himself with others in practical dealings.

ऐसें लौंद बेइमानी । कदापि सत्य नाहीं वचनीं ।
पापी अपस्मार जनीं । राक्षेस जाणावें ॥ ५ ॥
Such an arrogant, faithless person - whose word never carries truth, and who is sinful and deranged among people - should be recognized as no less than a demon.

समयासारिखा समयो येना । नेम सहसा चलेना ।
नेम धरितां राजकारणा । अंतर पडे ॥ ६ ॥
A fitting occasion does not always present itself as needed, and a fixed rule cannot always apply; if one clings rigidly to rules, one's practical affairs suffer.

अति सर्वत्र वर्जावें । प्रसंग पाहोन चालावें ।
हटनिग्रहीं न पडावें । विवेकीं पुरुषें ॥ ७ ॥
Excess should be avoided in every respect; one should act according to the occasion, and a discerning person should never fall into obstinacy.

बहुतचि करितां हट । तेथें येऊन पडेल तट ।
कोणीयेकाचा सेवट । जाला पाहिजे ॥ ८ ॥
If one persists too stubbornly, a real deadlock arises from it; in the end, someone or other must be brought down.

बरें ईश्वर आहे साभिमानी । विशेष तुळजाभोवानी ।
परंतु विचार पाहोनी । कार्ये करणें ॥ ९ ॥
It is indeed good to take pride in one's God, especially in Tuljabhavani, but even so, every task must be undertaken with careful thought.

अखंडचि सावधाना । बहुत काये करावी सूचना ।
परंतु कांहीं येक अनुमाना । आणिलें पाहिजे ॥ १० ॥

समर्थापासीं बहुत जन । राहिला पाहिजे साभिमान ।
निश्चळ करूनियां मन । लोक असती ॥ ११ ॥
Many people gather around a capable leader; among them self-respect must be preserved, for people remain there only by keeping their minds steady.

The wicked and base are numerous, and their rebelliousness has been simmering for a long time; therefore one must remain constantly vigilant.

सकळकर्ता तो ईश्वरु । तेणें केला अंगिकारुं ।
तया पुरुषाचा विचारु । विरुअळा जाणे ॥ १३ ॥
The doer of all things is God alone, and it is he who has taken this person under his own charge; only a rare few truly understand such a person's inner thinking.

न्याय नीति विवेक विचार । नाना प्रसंगप्रकार ।
परीक्षिणें परांतर । देणें ईश्वराचें ॥ १४ ॥

माहायेत्न सावधपणें । समईं धारिष्ट धरणें ।

Making great effort with alertness, holding firm courage in critical moments, and accomplishing truly wondrous deeds - all this too is a gift from God.

येश कीर्ति प्रताप महिमा । उत्तम गुणासी नाहीं सीमा ।

Success, fame, valor, and glory - such fine qualities know no limit and find no equal comparison; all of it is a gift given by God.

येहलोक परलोक पाहाणें । अखंड सावधपणें राहाणें ।

Keeping both this world and the next in view, remaining ever vigilant, and bearing with countless people - this too is a gift given by God.

देवाचा कैपक्ष घेणे । ब्रह्माणाची चिंता वाहाणें ।

Taking up God's cause, caring for the welfare of brahmins, and sustaining countless people - all this is a gift given by God.

धर्मस्थापनेचे नर । ते ईश्वराचे अवतार ।
जाले आहेत पुढें होणार । देणें ईश्वराचें ॥ २० ॥
The men who establish righteousness are themselves incarnations of God - those who have been, those who are, and those yet to come; all of this is God's own gift.

उत्तम गुणाचा ग्राहिक । तर्क तीक्षण विवेक ।

Appreciating fine qualities, keen reasoning and discernment, love for righteousness, and attaining a virtuous reputation - all this too is a gift given by God.

The essence among all virtues is sound planning, discernment, and reflection; by their strength alone one reaches the far shore of both this world and the next.
