दासबोध : दशक दुसरा : समास तिसरा - कुविद्यालक्षण
नेणे आणी नायके । न ये आणी न सीके ।
न करी आणी न देखे । अभ्यास दृष्टी ॥ ११ ॥
He knows nothing and listens to no one; he can do nothing yet refuses to learn; he does nothing, and never even looks at anything with a mind to study it.
He is ignorant, untrustworthy, given to tormenting others, and full of faults; he himself has no devotion, and cannot even bear the sight of true devotees.
Despite being a lowly, unimpressive person, he puts on airs; he is unreliable and divisive, given to empty talk, and altogether ill-starred - so discernment shows.
He is short-tempered, dominated by dark inertia, thoughtless, sinful, disaster-prone, and even afflicted with epileptic fits - as if possessed by some evil spirit.
He is capable of the gravest sins - suicide, killing a woman, killing a cow, killing a learned brahmin, even killing his own mother or father; he is a great sinner, utterly fallen.
He is inadequate, unworthy, a maker of twisted arguments, a betrayer of friends, treacherous, ungrateful, guilty of the gravest impropriety, fit for hell, falsely posing as selfless, and endlessly talkative.
In him dwell constant suspicion, brawling, strife and discord, unrighteousness, disorderliness, an accumulation of sorrows, tale-bearing, addictions, enmity, and a tendency to oppress others.
He is difficult and ill-fated, filthy in habit, fickle, deceptively charming yet fawning, selfish, greedy, unrestrained, given to seizing what belongs to others, and petty.
He is shamelessly bold, unrestrained, running wild, indulgent, lewd, loud-mouthed, incomplete in character, insolent, lustful - a scoundrel of evil intent.
He is a murderer, a violator of women, a robber, one who tunnels to steal, a hypocrite and fraud, an adulterer, and a practitioner of black magic and deception.
He is a shameless, quarrelsome troublemaker - obstinate, coarse, stubborn, insolent, thick-headed, deceitful and theatrical - the sort the whole world finds troublesome and depraved.
He is impatient, indolent, and given to bad conduct; even if he is blind, lame, wracked by coughing, incomplete, deaf, or asthmatic, he still will not let go of his arrogance.
He is without learning, without prosperity, without good family, without wealth, without strength, without capability, and without any good fortune - a mere beggar.
He is without strength, without any skill, without radiance, without spiritual initiation, without good qualities, without beauty, and deformed or unappealing in body.
He is without cleverness, without intelligence, without good conduct, without reflection, without any real accomplishment, without sattvic virtue, without discernment, and full of doubt.
He is without devotion, without faith, without knowledge, without detachment, without inner peace, and without forgiveness - lacking every virtue, utterly petty.
He knows neither the right occasion nor the right circumstance, knows neither effort nor study, knows neither honest simplicity nor friendship - this luckless man knows nothing at all.

Such are the many corruptions found in him - he is a veritable storehouse of bad qualities. Let listeners learn to recognize this kind of corrupt person.
Such, then, are the characteristics of corrupt nature. Having heard them, one should give them up entirely. It is not proper to remain caught up in such faults out of pride.
