धन्य धन्य हे वसुमती । इचा महिमा सांगों किती । प्राणीमात्र तितुके राहाती । तिच्या आधारें ॥ १ ॥

Blessed is this Earth, Mother of Wealth! How much can one describe her glory? Every single living being rests upon her support alone.

अंतरिक्ष राहाती जीव । तोहि पृथ्वीचा स्वभाव । देहे जड नस्तां जीव । कैसे तगती ॥ २ ॥

Even the creatures that move through the sky exist by virtue of Earth's own nature, for their bodies are made of her matter; without a solid body how could any living being survive at all?

जाळिती पोळिती कुदळिती । नांगरिती उकरिती खाणती । मळ मूत्र तिजवरी करिती । आणी वमन ॥ ३ ॥

People burn her, scorch her, dig her with mattocks, plow her, excavate and mine her; they even relieve themselves and vomit upon her.

नासकें कुजकें जर्जर । पृथ्वीविण कैंची थार । देह्यांतकाळीं शरीर । तिजवरी पडे ॥ ४ ॥

Anything rotten, decayed or worn out finds refuge nowhere but on the earth; and at the time of death, the body itself falls upon her.

बरें वाईट सकळ कांहीं । पृथ्वीविण थार नाहीं । नाना धातु द्रव्य तें हि । भूमीचे पोटीं ॥ ५ ॥

Whatever is good or bad, all of it finds support only in the earth; the many metals and precious substances too lie hidden within her womb.

येकास येक संव्हारिती । प्राणी भूमीवरी असती । भूमी सांडून जाती । कोणीकडे ॥ ६ ॥

Creatures living upon the earth destroy one another, but leaving the earth itself - where indeed could anyone go?

गड कोठ पुरें पट्टणें । नाना देश कळती अटणें । देव दानव मानव राहाणें । पृथ्वीवरी ॥ ७ ॥

Forts, citadels, towns and cities, countries and even barren tracts - all exist upon the earth; gods, demons and humans alike make their dwelling on her.

नाना रत्नें हिरे परीस । नाना धातु द्रव्यांश । गुप्त प्रगट कराव्यास । पृथ्वीविण नाहीं ॥ ८ ॥

Every kind of jewel, diamond, philosopher's stone, every metal and precious substance - there is no place but the earth to keep them hidden or bring them forth.

मेरुमांदार हिमाचळ । नाना अष्टकुळाचळ । नाना पक्षी मछ व्याळ । भूमंडळीं ॥ ९ ॥

Mount Meru, Mandara, the Himalayas, and the eight great mountain ranges, as well as every kind of bird, fish and serpent - all belong to this earthly realm.

नाना समुद्रापैलीकडे । भोंवतें आवर्णोदका कडें । असंभाव्य तुटले कडे । भूमंडळाचे ॥ १० ॥

Beyond the many oceans, at the edge of the encircling primal waters, lie countless sheer, broken cliffs marking the limits of this earth.

त्यामधें गुप्त विवरें । लाहानथोरें अपारें । तेथें निबिड अंधकारें । वस्ती कीजे ॥ ११ ॥

Within them lie countless hidden caverns, both small and vast, where creatures dwell amid dense, unbroken darkness.

आवर्णोदक तें अपार । त्याचा कोण जाणे पार । उदंड दाटले जळचर । असंभाव्य मोठे ॥ १२ ॥

That encircling ocean is boundless - who indeed knows its far shore? It teems with countless creatures of immense, almost unimaginable size.

त्या जीवनास आधार पवन । निबिड दाट आणी घन । फुटों शकेना जीवन । कोणेकडे ॥ १३ ॥

That water is upheld by wind, dense and thick and compact; because of it, the water cannot break apart or spill away anywhere.

त्या प्रभंजनासी आधार । कठिणपणें अहंकार । ऐसा त्या भूगोळाचा पार । कोण जाणे ॥ १४॥

That mighty wind in turn rests upon the solid principle of Ego (Ahankara); such is this earthly sphere - who indeed can know its ultimate limit?

नाना पदार्थांच्या खाणी । धातुरत्नांच्या दाटणी । कल्पतरु चिंतामणी । अमृतकुंडें ॥ १५ ॥

Mines of countless substances, dense deposits of metals and gems, wish-fulfilling trees, wish-granting jewels, and pools of nectar - all these too belong to the earth.

नाना दीपें नाना खंडें । वसती उद्वसें उदंडें । तेथें नाना जीवनाचीं बंडें । वेगळालीं ॥ १६ ॥

Countless islands and continents, some inhabited, some barren and vast - upon them dwell separate multitudes of every kind of living creature.

मेरुभोंवते कडे कापले । असंभाव्य कडोसें पडिलें । निबिड तरु लागले । नाना जिनसी ॥ १७ ॥

Around Mount Meru the cliffs are sheer-cut, countless deep ravines drop away, and dense forests of every kind of tree grow there.

त्यासन्निध लोकालोक । जेथें सूर्याचें फिरे चाक । चंद्रादि द्रोणाद्रि मैनाक । माहां गिरी ॥ १८ ॥

Nearby stands the mountain Lokaloka, up to which the sun's chariot-wheel turns; and there too are great mountains like Dronadri and Mainaka.

नाना देशीं पाषाणभेद । नाना जिनसी मृत्तिकाभेद । नाना विभूति छंद बंद । नाना खाणी ॥ १९ ॥

In different lands there are different kinds of rock, different varieties of soil, different forms of wealth and structure, and mines of every sort.

बहुरत्न हे वसुंदरा । ऐसा पदार्थ कैचा दुसरा । अफट पडिलें सैरावैरा । जिकडे तिकडे ॥ २० ॥

"The Earth is rich with many jewels" - and truly so; where else could one find such a thing? Her immense wealth lies scattered every which way.

अवघी पृथ्वी फिरोन पाहे । ऐसा प्राणी कोण आहे । दुजी तुळणा न साहे । धरणीविषीं ॥२१ ॥

What creature could ever travel over and see the whole of this earth? Nothing at all can bear comparison with her.

नाना वल्ली नाना पिकें । देसोदेसी अनेकें । पाहों जातां सारिख्या सारिखें । येक हि नाहीं ॥ २२ ॥

Countless creepers and crops grow in country after country; and if one looks closely, not a single one is exactly like another.

स्वर्ग मृत्यु आणिपाताळें । अपूर्व रचिलीं तीन ताळें। पाताळलोकीं माहां व्याळें । वस्ती कीजे ॥ २३ ॥

Heaven, the mortal realm, and the netherworld have been wondrously arranged as three tiers; and in the netherworld great serpents make their home.

नान वल्ली बीजांची खाणी । ते हे विशाळ धरणी । अभिनव कर्त्याची करणी । होऊन गेली ॥ २४ ॥

This vast earth, a storehouse of every seed and every kind of plant, is entirely the wondrous handiwork of the Creator.

गड कोठ नाना नगरें । पुरें पट्टणें मनोहरें । सकळां ठाईं जगदेश्वरें । वस्ती कीजे ॥ २५ ॥

Forts, citadels, cities, beautiful towns and settlements - in every one of these places, the Lord of the universe himself dwells.

माहां बळी होऊन गेले । पृथ्वीवरी चौताळले । सामर्थ्यें निराळे राहिले । हें तों घडेना ॥ २६ ॥

Mighty and powerful kings have come and gone, striding the earth in their strength, but not one of them could ever remain apart from her.

असंभाव्य हे जगती। जीव कितीयेक जाती । नाना अवतारपंगती । भूमंडळावरी ॥ २७ ॥

This world is immeasurable, home to countless species of living beings; and even the whole succession of divine incarnations took place upon this very earth.

सध्यां रोकडे प्रमाण । कांहीं करावा नलगे अनुमान । नाना प्रकारीचें जीवन । पृथ्वीचेनि आधारें ॥ २८ ॥

This is plain, present evidence before us, needing no inference at all; every kind of life continues solely on the support of the earth.

कित्तेक भूमी माझी म्हणती । सेवटीं आपणचि मरोन जाती । कित्तेक काळ होतां जगती । जैसी तैसी ॥ २९ ॥

Many say "this land is mine," yet in the end they themselves die away; ages upon ages pass, but the earth remains just as she always was.

ऐसा पृथ्वीचा महिमा । दुसरी काये द्यावी उपमा । ब्रह्मादिकापासुनी आम्हां । आश्रयोचि आहे ॥ ३० ॥

Such is the glory of the earth - what other comparison could possibly be given? From Brahma himself down to us, everyone depends upon her as their sole refuge.
